Face coverings are now mandatory on public transport. Passengers must wear a face covering while travelling on local buses, in taxis, on inter-island flights, or in the enclosed areas on ferries, such as passenger lounges. Children under five and people with certain medical conditions are exempt from this requirement.
From Monday 4th October 2021 a winter timetable comes into operation. Please click here for the new timetable. It is also shown below.
There is no requirement to book any services on the Bressay service.
Payment is by Account Card or Contactless payment method.
If you don't have an account card, please fill in the account card application form to have one sent to you.
If you need to use the ferry before you get your account card, you should tell the crew that you are awaiting delivery of your account card. They will take your details, and the cost of the journey will be added to your account balance.
Multi-journey tickets cannot be used on the ferries. They can still be used to pay off your account balance when you receive an invoice. To do this, send the tickets with your payment to the SIC.
There is much more information about this at the SIC ferry page.
