Inter-island Ferry Situation From 8th April 2020

A new restricted timetable comes into operation on Monday 1st June 2020. You can see the new timetable by clicking here.It is also shown below.

All crossings from this date are by booking only - this goes for ALL passengers whether in vehicles or on foot. You can book crossings by visiting the website at https://ferry.shetland.gov.uk/booking/web100.asp.

If you aren't already registered on this site (a lot of Bressay people will already be registered as it was how you booked for Yell, Unst and Whalsay), you can set up an account by clicking the Register button and it will ask you for your details. If you already have a user on the site you can just click the Login button and enter your email address and password to gain access.

Otherwise, you can book by one of the following ways :-

If you need to book a large number of crossings (e.g. if you're working on the mainland), you can access the block-booking form here.

Payment is to be by Account Card only from this date.

If you don't have an account card, you can get one by downloading this application form. Open the file, type in your details, save and send as as an email attachment to ferries.admin@shetland.gov.uk. Alternatively, print it off, fill it in, and email a scanned copy to ferries.admin@shetland.gov.uk.

You can also print it off, fill it in and post it to Shetland Islands Council, Port Admin Building, Sella Ness, Sullom Voe, Shetland ZE2 9QR.

If you need to use the ferry before you get your account card, you should tell the crew that you are awaiting delivery of your account card. They will take your details, and the cost of the journey will be added to your account balance.

Multi-journey tickets cannot be used on the ferries. They can still be used to pay off your account balance when you receive an invoice. To do this, send the tickets with your payment to the SIC.

We have prepared a guide to using the ferries during the Coronavirus emergency which you may find useful. Please click here to download it.

There is much more information about this at the SIC ferry page at https://www.shetland.gov.uk/ferries/covid19.asp.
